In the meantime, chatbots have become established worldwide and across many industries. The hype doesn't seem to be waning either, but rather the opposite is the case. They are becoming more and more popular thanks to their wide range of applications. However, not every chatbot used is automatically successful; there are many that fail for a variety of reasons. This makes it all the more important to look at successful examples and gain ideas for your own chatbot and implementation from them. For this reason, we want to show you several successful chatbots in the following blog post, which can serve as a positive role model.

Woebot Health

Woebot Chatbot

The Woebot was developed by psychologist Dr. Alison Darcy in 2017 with the goal of helping people and providing an alternative to therapy slots, which often involve very long wait times. A combination of advanced AI and decades of research in psychology allows this chatbot to recognize symptoms of mental illness such as depression, anxiety, and the like, and respond empathically.

On the one hand, the Woebot uses clinically proven therapeutic approaches, which are then combined with artificial intelligence and NLP (Natural Language Processing). In this way, the Woebot manages to conduct conversations in an empathetic way and to ask about the user's state of mind.

Woebot has the ability to connect with the user within a short period of 3 to 5 days and thus increase user engagement. It also does this by growing together with the user and taking into account all previous interactions at all times and using them as a basis for further conversations.

Andy - The English Teacher

Andy practice your english

The English-speaking chatbot Andy was developed by ZTO Labs and released on the Google Playstore as well as the Apple Store. The chatbot app Andy provides a simple way to practice the English language. The idea behind it is that you consolidate the language by actively using it and having a fluent conversation with the chatbot.

The best way to learn a new language and especially to train it is known to be direct conversations with native speakers. This strengthens the vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. But the possibilities to get in constant contact with native speakers are limited for many. All the more practical is a free chatbot that fulfills exactly this function and is available at any time.

Andy offers many different functions. It motivates the user by rewarding him with game-like successes and provides a read-aloud function through which the user can internalize the pronunciation. In addition, Andy tests you within the conversations in order to better assess your language level and to encourage you. Over time, the chatbot understands the wishes and needs of the user better and better and saves the progress continuously.

Mya - The HR Recruitment Bot

Mya is a chatbot that is used in personnel recruiting by companies such as L'Oréal. The target group of this chatbot consists of applicants who are interested in an internship or another position in the company.

With more than 1 million applications annually, the use of Mya enables L'Oréal to manage an even higher volume of applications. According to the Chief Digital Officer for HR, the chatbot has been very well received by applicants. Already the first 10,000 job interviews with Mya have shown that 92% of candidates were guided through the process in an efficient way and almost every applicant was satisfied. There was a lot of positive feedback, especially due to the easy and personal experience.

The Mya chatbot can ask candidates factual questions to compare their application profile with that of the job requirement. Questions include when the intern will be available, how long their studies will last, and whether any adjustments need to be made to complete the application. Furthermore, Mya can also answer questions about the company itself, the application process and the job posting. This makes it possible to find out more information about the applicant in advance than would have been possible with a resume alone.

Anna - The IKEA Chatbot

IKEA was one of the first companies to introduce a chatbot. Even if this chatbot was not so well received at the beginning (more than 10 years ago), the numbers speak for themselves. Anna is IKEA's virtual assistant and arguably its most versatile employee. Anna is familiar with a wide variety of topics from the IKEA world. She knows over 120,000 products as well as their prices and delivery options, opening hours and more. In addition, she can answer personal small talk questions as well as questions about the restaurant and the menu.

Anna now speaks 21 languages and supports customers on the IKEA website. With over 1 billion annual visitors, 20% of whom have used the chatbot service, Anna naturally bears a lot of responsibility. This seems to be working, as over 25% of online tickets are now closed by her.

Leon - The Corona Chatbot

Leon the Corona Chatbot

The Corona Chatbot Leon was developed as support for the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration. Leon answers all questions about the Corona virus. The chatbot constantly provides citizens with up-to-date and reliable information on the topic of Corona.

Due to the fact that the information around Corona has changed constantly, it is difficult to always find the correct and currently valid rules and accordingly many questions arise. Leon helps by providing reliable and up-to-date answers to all kinds of questions about Corona.

The acceptance of the Corona chatbot is very high and so an initial pilot project turned into a chatbot that answers more than 80,000 inquiries annually. Leon thus offers an attractive opportunity to relieve the hotlines through this new information channel
